Our Approach

How we compare surgeons, what data we use, how we avoid bias, and how we put patients first.

    How we compare surgeons

We help you see knee replacement surgeons and hospitals in one place so you can compare options before you decide. Our comparison is based on a consistent set of criteria: clinical performance where available, volume of procedures, patient-reported outcomes where we have access to them, and facility-level information. We do not rank surgeons or hospitals in a single “best to worst” list; we present information so you can filter and sort according to what matters to you—location, specialisation, outcomes, or other factors.

We do not guarantee that every surgeon or hospital in your results will be the right fit. Our role is to surface options and data; the final choice is yours, in discussion with your doctor.

    What data we use

We use data from public sources, institutional reporting, and where applicable, aggregated or self-reported data from providers. This can include:

    • Procedure volume (how many knee replacements a surgeon or hospital does in a given period).
    • Outcome metrics (e.g. infection rates, revision rates) when published or shared.
    • Patient experience or satisfaction measures when available.
    • Basic facility and specialisation information.

Data availability varies by region and provider. We show what we have and indicate where information is missing or limited. We do not fabricate scores or rankings. When we update our methodology or data sources, we aim to make that clear.

    How we avoid bias

We are not paid by hospitals or surgeons to include them, rank them, or recommend them. Our comparison is not for sale. Providers do not pay to appear higher or to be featured. That means:

    • Inclusion in our comparison is based on our selection criteria and data availability, not on commercial agreements.
    • We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable placement or visibility.
    • We do not allow hospitals or surgeons to alter or remove the information we display about them in exchange for payment.

We believe this separation is necessary for you to trust that the options you see reflect our best effort to be objective, not our revenue relationships.

    Revenue model transparency

HealNixa may earn revenue in ways that do not depend on which surgeon or hospital you choose. For example, we may charge for membership, for access to certain tools or reports, or for connecting you with supportive care (e.g. physiotherapy, dietitian, wellness) that is separate from the surgeon or hospital you select for surgery. We may also work with partners who pay for visibility or referrals in non-surgical care. We do not sell your personal data to hospitals or surgeons for marketing.

Our core comparison of surgeons and hospitals is not monetised by those providers. If our revenue model changes in a way that affects this, we will update this page.

    Patient-first principles

We design our product and policies so that your interests come first in how we present and compare care options.

    • No forced path. You can explore surgical and non-surgical options without being pushed toward one outcome. We do not require you to complete a fixed journey (e.g. “must see a surgeon first”) to use our comparison or supportive care features.
    • Clarity over persuasion. We aim to explain what we show and how we show it. We do not use dark patterns or pressure tactics to steer you toward a particular provider or action.
    • Your data. We use your data in line with our privacy policy. We do not sell your information to hospitals or surgeons for the purpose of marketing or outreach.
    • Ongoing improvement. We revise our methodology and data practices when we find better ways to support informed choice. Feedback from users and transparency with the public are part of that.

    Limitations

Our comparison is a starting point, not medical advice. We do not replace the relationship between you and your doctor. Data can be incomplete or out of date; outcomes can vary by patient. Always discuss your options with a qualified healthcare provider before making a decision about surgery or treatment.
